Readers of Security-Insider and eGovernment honor G DATA CyberDefense in three categories
At the 12th Readers’ Choice Awards hosted by Vogel IT-Medien, G DATA CyberDefense took first place in the Security Awareness category. In the Extended Detection and Response (XDR) category, the company won silver. Readers of eGovernment also voted for the Bochum-based cyber defense specialist and awarded it silver in the “Identity and Security” category. The recognition therefore comes from two directions: from IT professionals in business and from public administration.

These awards are not decided by a jury. They are decided by the people who work with IT security every day. For the IT-Awards 2026, the six Insider portals of Vogel IT-Medien called on their readers for the twelfth time to vote for the vendors of the year. By the time voting closed on August 31, almost 60,000 votes had been cast. At the awards gala, G DATA CyberDefense took home two awards in the security categories.
“These awards are given by readers who work in IT day to day. I am particularly pleased that they see us out in front in the public sector with MXDR. And our XDR product won an award less than six months after its release. In Security Awareness Training, we even came first. To me, this shows that what we build stays close to the needs of the people we protect. In IT security, technology and people belong together,” says Nikolas Schran, Vice President Sales & Marketing at G DATA CyberDefense.
Platinum for Security Awareness, silver for XDRSecurity-Insider readers ranked G DATA’s Security Awareness Training first in its category. The category addresses something technology alone cannot cover: whether a fake invoice gets opened or a suspicious phone call gets questioned is decided at the desk. Well-trained employees are more likely to spot such situations and respond quickly and appropriately. In the Extended Detection and Response (XDR) category, G DATA received the silver award for its own XDR solution.
Silver at the eGovernment Readers’ Choice AwardsReaders in the public sector voted for G DATA as well. At the eGovernment Readers’ Choice Awards 2026, the company took silver in the Identity and Security category. For municipalities and public authorities, IT security has long been a question of whether they can keep operating. When systems go down, services for citizens come to a standstill. On top of that, many administrations have to protect their networks with small IT teams.
