New G DATA Security Awareness Training Helps Employees Spot Phishing Attacks

Free training course uses real-world examples to strengthen phishing awareness
Phishing remains one of the most common entry points for cyberattacks on businesses. To help employees identify fraudulent messages more reliably, G DATA CyberDefense has launched a new practical Security Awareness Training course: “Phishing Alert! Can You Spot the Warning Signs?”. Available free of charge to existing customers, the course consists of three 15-minute modules based on real phishing messages. Participants learn how to recognize suspicious details and identify the psychological tactics used by cybercriminals.

Phishing continues to pose a major challenge in everyday business operations. Findings from the representative “Cybersecurity in Numbers” study by G DATA CyberDefense, Statista and brand eins underline the scale of the problem: only one in six respondents is confident that they can identify fraudulent or dangerous emails. The new course is designed to build this confidence through hands-on training. Across three progressive levels of difficulty, participants learn to recognize common phishing indicators and understand how attackers exploit trust, urgency and pressure. Warning signs can include inconsistencies in sender information, links or website addresses. By learning what to look for, employees can assess suspicious messages more confidently and contribute directly to protecting their organization against cyberattacks. The new training is now available free of charge to existing customers in the current “Focus Topics” section.

“Phishing emails are becoming increasingly sophisticated. Spelling mistakes and generic greetings are no longer reliable indicators of an attack,” says Nikolas Schran, Vice President Sales & Marketing at G DATA CyberDefense. “Our new training uses realistic examples from everyday working life to help employees recognize the methods cybercriminals use. This practical approach is essential for effective Security Awareness Training.”

Each level uses real phishing emails, progressing from easier examples to more challenging scenarios. Participants learn to focus on the small details that distinguish a fraudulent message from a legitimate one. The training is particularly effective when completed shortly after a phishing simulation. Used as a follow-up exercise, it reinforces what employees have learned while the experience is still fresh and helps turn individual incidents into lasting security awareness.

The new courses are available in a total of 14 languages: German, English, French, Spanish, Italian, Polish, Dutch, Portuguese and Chinese, as well as Russian, Czech, Hungarian, Romanian and Bulgarian. The content is available both through G DATA own Learning Management System as a full-service solution and as a content-only option. This allows companies and organizations to integrate the training courses into their existing learning platforms.
